A Few Words

About Me

Ana Paula Rocha

In each project the importance of a detail.

The visualization of a whole.

Live all my work with great passion.

See each work as a new learning process, an always new process, both in terms of creation, and in the relationship with the actors and the team.

Looking at all jobs as a new challenge, trying to create something always different and not falling into the temptation to always follow the same aesthetic line.

Organize, study, investigate, watching script reading, think, draw a lot, make mistakes … until you find the right image.

These are some of my characteristics and working method.

My Route

Ana Paula Rocha

From a very early age I acquired a taste for drawing.

As a child I made models with cardboard and papers, created paper dolls with clothes and painted the walls of my room with murals. He preferred these jobs to playing with traditional toys.

I started to discover my path… after completing my 12th year in the area of art and design, I entered the industrial styling course at the Lisbon Fashion School. At that time I had already participated as a stylist in some fashion shows and I was already making my clothes. He believed he was on the right path. I completed the 3 year course and had the opportunity to do an internship at the Portuguese fashion office, Promostyl in Paris and in the styling office of a national brand (Tiagu´s).

I could have started a promising career at this point, but I felt that I had made a mistake in my profession. I felt that I had to expand my creativity.

I always loved to read. When reading we create worlds and images that do not exist, reading offers trips to imaginary worlds, to parallel realities, in our mind we imagine the images we want. We are free to create. Like the theater, as a reflection of a thought, generating images and emotions that are transmitted to the viewer.

It was through the theatre and the School of Theatre and Cinema that I found my way.

As soon as I finished the course I started to work, first on television and then on theater, where I confirmed my passion for this art.

As a result of my taste in reading, pleasure in study and research, I returned to the Faculty to complete my degree and later my Master’s in Theatre and Education.

I have always been interested in how theatre changes and interacts in communities, especially with young people and children.

My journey has always been a growing one of hard work in the area, having had the privilege of working with great Portuguese and international directors.

In between came the love for cinema. For the great art that through the screen gives us images and emotions of great proximity. For the world of illusion, where we create images often through other devices, for the large family that we become when working in cinema.

Recently, when I founded the Tribo de Palco, a youth association of artistic productions, with friends, I developed the interest that has always been present, through theatre and various art forms, to offer training and artistic experiences to young people through unpublished projects, always fostering creativity and the values not only of the theater but of the team spirit and sharing.

I think I am motivated and passionate about my work. I dedicate myself with my soul to all projects since always and until today. I aim to continue like this and go even further…
